We have some very exciting news to share with you!
We just took a very big leap of faith and started a second farm site – our Long Prairie Farm!
For the past five years we have been trying to figure out how to expand so we can bring you more of the wonderful wasabi products you love. We recently found a piece of property that will work for a second Oregon Coast Wasabi farm site.
Please know that it will take a while before we can increase production. We are going to have to develop this property, and it takes quite a long time to grow wasabi. It takes approximately 18 to 24 months from the time you plant a wasabi start until you can harvest wasabi rhizome. This very long growing season makes it tough to succeed as a wasabi farmer and that leads me to our second announcement -

For a long time now many of you have asked for other ways to support us in addition to purchasing our products. We realize that our customers can only use so much all-purpose wasabi seasoning salt, or wasabi rhizome in a year and we are so grateful for those of you who have asked us for other ways to support our small wasabi farm. We have put up this Patreon account to provide you a way to do that. If you choose to support us and help us over the next few years as we get our second farm site up and running, we would be most grateful.
We are a small operation with a very small staff, and we don’t have much bandwidth for things other than working on the farm. That being said - we want to offer more than just our deep gratitude to those of you who become Oregon Coast Wasabi Patreon supporters.
We will be sending out a monthly Long Prairie Farm Update email to our Patreon supporters, and we will also make it possible for our Patreon supporters to submit “Ask Jennifer” questions to us. Once per quarter I will make a video answering some of the questions our Patreon supporters submit to us.
